Silver Fox Award

This award is designed to recognize Adult Scouters who have provided diverse services over an extended period of time to the Scouting Program.

Each person who is awarded the Silver Fox will receive a framed certificate, a pocket patch, and the Silver Fox ribbon medallion.

You can nominate yourself for this award! 
Any Scouter who meets the requirements may be nominated by anyone. All applications are reviewed by a volunteer committee. 

**The deadline for receiving the Silver Fox Award nominations is January 15, 2019**

Silver Fox Award Nomination Form


  1. Must have tenure in the Boy Scouts of America of more than ten (10) years.
  2. Must have served in a unit position (unit leader, den leader, committee-person, etc.) for at least three (3) years. 
  3. Must be currently registered as a member of the North Florida Council.
  4. Must have completed ten (10) of the following: 
    1. Has served as a chairman of a district/council-wide event.
    2. Has served as an instructor of at least three adult training programs.
    3. Has served on Wood Badge or Powder Horn staff (not to be combined with #B).
    4. Has served as an adult advisor to the Order of the Arrow for at least five years.
    5. Has served on a District Committee Staff for at least five years. 
    6. Has served on a Commissioner Staff for at least five years.
    7. Has earned the Wood Badge beads. 
    8. Has earned the Scouter’s Key for any single position.
    9. Has earned the Doctor’s Degree from the Commissioner’s College.
    10. Has served on the Council’s Executive Board/Advisory Board for at least five years.
    11. Has served as an adult at summer camp (Cub or Boy Scout) for at least one (1) session/week each of three (3) years.
    12. Has been awarded the District Award of Merit.
    13. Has been awarded the Silver Beaver.
    14. Has served as contingent leader to the National Jamboree (once).
    15. Has served as contingent leader to Philmont Scout Ranch (once).
    16. Has completed ANY course at the Philmont Training Center.
    17. Has taught at the Philmont Training Center.
    18. Has been presented the James E. West Award.
    19. Has served on Pow-Wow or University of Scouting staff at least three times.
    20. Has served as a Merit Badge Counselor for at least five years.
    21. Has organized at least three new scouting units.
    22. Has been awarded the Vigil Honor (Order of the Arrow).
    23. Has been awarded the adult Religious Award.
    24. Has earned the Scouter’s Training Award. 
    25. Has earned the Scoutmaster’s or Advisor’s Award of Merit
    26. Has earned the Distinguished Commissioner’s Award. 
    27. Has served as a North Florida Council Campmaster for at least two years. 
    28. Has assisted in the reorganization of at least three Scouting units. 
    29. Has earned the third Wood Badge bead.
    30. Has served as an adult staff member of NYLT training for at least two (2) years.
    31. Has served on NFC Summer Camp or WinterBlast adult staff for at least three (3) years.
